Business South Local Produce Show Returns for its 10th Year
Local Produce Show to take place on Thursday 25 January 2018, Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton Over 50 local producers in Hampshire and the surrounding areas to meet more than 200 buyers and chefs
Now in its tenth year, the Local Produce Show, organised by Business South, Paris Smith, Hampshire Fare, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets, New Forest Marque, Southern Coop and Cavendish Ships Stores, brings together some of the region’s small food and drink businesses with chefs and buyers seeking to source new produce.
In 2017, the event showcased over forty local producers offering samples and information about their products to potential buyers. Upham Brewery, The Garlic Farm, Mash Brewery, Hill Farm Juice, Wow Cupcakes, Yarty Cordials, Mooka Gelato, Winchester Distillery, Chalk Valley Cheese, Flack Manor, Bowman Ales and Mozzo Coffee were just some of the businesses exhibiting there on the day.
For chefs and buyers, the event provides an invaluable opportunity to source new and exciting ingredients whilst supporting the Hampshire economy and its local producers. Previous buyers have included; Carnival UK, University of Southampton, Ideal Collection, Hampshire County Council and Hilton at the Ageas.
In 2018, the show will be opened by MasterChef winner Jane Devonshire, and exhibitors will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive seminar with speakers including Laura Trapnell of Paris Smith and John Davey of Cavendish Ship Stores. Pre-registered buyers will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of tastings and network with colleagues from the hospitality industry. Buyers registering to attend before 30 November 2017 will be entered into a draw to win a local produce Christmas Hamper.
Last year’s special guest Paul Turner of Alf Turner Butchers shared his Dragon’s Den success story with attendees and said of the show: “The exhibitors showed an amazing array of local produce which is invaluable to the area. I thoroughly enjoyed networking with the variety of producers and distributors at the event. This has opened doors for my business and I hope for others too.”
“The Local Produce Show is a rare opportunity for chefs and buyers to meet and chat to an array of Hampshire producers all in one place” explains Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager at Hampshire Fare. “Producers offer tasters and the opportunity to find out the story behind their food and drink. For anyone keen to add a touch of Hampshire to their business, this a definite date for the diary!”
