Business South Appoints New Executive Director

Leigh-Sara Timberlake, Champion Director is newly appointed to the role of Executive Director with immediate effect. John Mitchell, CEO to retire in October 2019

Leigh-Sara has been part of the Business South Management Team since it was established 12 years ago. As Champion Director, she has worked with organisations in both the public and private sector and is a well-known and highly respected figure in the Central South region.

Prior to joining Business South, Leigh-Sara worked for National Accounts at Courage Brewery which involved dealing with major players in the hospitality sector including: Wetherspoons, Rank Leisure, and Trust House Forte Hotels.

Rosemary French, Chair, Business South says: “Leigh-Sara will bring passion and enthusiasm to the role of Executive Director. Her local knowledge and stakeholder relationships combined with her collaborative working skills will continue to help shape our agenda as the voice of the local business community.”

Leigh-Sara comments: “I am excited at the prospect of being able to take the organisation to the next chapter. Following the merger with Enterprise First we are now in a position to cater for all size of business from start-ups right through to large corporates. There may be challenging times ahead but there has never been a more crucial time to promote what the Central South has to offer.”

Business South is the independent representative of businesses in the South of England, supporting the prosperity of the region by bringing together business leaders, educators, public bodies and entrepreneurs to create a dominant and powerful force for change and growth.

Beyond making connections between individual businesses, Business South and its Champions have achieved a huge amount for the region. Together, Champions have promoted the area, demonstrated the importance of their sectors, provided invaluable thought leadership, influenced policies and investment decisions, and delivered on a range of projects.

Leigh-Sara continues: “Business South is business led, forward thinking and agile and I’m grateful for this opportunity to take it forward. It has been a pleasure to work with John Mitchell over the last two years, he has been a great support and I have benefitted from his vast experience in the business world. The team and I respect John’s decision to step down and would like to thank him and wish him all the best for the future.”

Whilst Leigh-Sara will take on operational responsibilities immediately, John will remain as a director in the business for the next three months to assist an orderly transition.
