Guildford Borough Council Joins Business South in the Year of the Champion
Business South was established in 2007 to be the independent representative of businesses in the South of England.
To unite businesses, to gain strength from this collaboration, and to use it to make a difference to both individual organisations and to the wider economy.
In the last decade, countless business connections have been made and 85 per cent of Champions are making connections and doing business as a result of being a Champion.
Beyond making connections between individual businesses, the Champions programme and the strength that such an influential group of organisations represents, has achieved a huge amount for the region. Together, the Champions have promoted the area, demonstrated the importance of their sectors, provided invaluable thought leadership, influenced policies and investment decisions and delivered on a range of projects.
Guildford Borough Council is the latest organisation to join the network. The Council supports a sustainable economy within the context of its draft Local Plan by working to sustain and improve the area’s infrastructure and connectivity as well as engaging with key employers and SME’s to ensure their needs and concerns are recognised.

We are therefore delighted to become a Business South Champion and anticipate a strong working relationship to the benefit of the region.’
John Mitchell, Group CEO at Business South was pleased to meet withCllr David Bilbè for the founder Champion plaque giving and to hear how Guildford is home to exciting high tech sector clusters, including electronic gaming, 5G technologies, veterinary and biomedical sciences, cyber security and satellite technology with a strong legal and financial services presence.
