New Forest District Council joins Business South as a new Champion
Business South welcomes New Forest District Council as the newest Business South Champion
Business South was established in 2007 to be the independent representative of businesses in the South of England. To unite businesses, to gain strength from this collaboration, and to use it to make a difference to both individual organisations and to the wider economy.
In the last decade, countless business connections have been made, and the Champions programme has grown to 200 members. 85 per cent of Champions are making connections and doing business as a result of being a Champion.
Beyond making connections between individual businesses, the Champions programme and the strength that such an influential group of organisations represents, has achieved a huge amount for the region. Together, the Champions have promoted the area, demonstrated the importance of their sectors, provided invaluable thought leadership, influenced policies and investment decisions and delivered on a range of projects.
New Forest District Council is the first local council to join the network in 2018. New Forest District Council covers an area of 750km ² which is home to a population of approximately 180,000 people and more than 9,000 businesses. The vision of the council is that the district will become seen as a place where thriving business and serene surroundings come hand in hand. The Council’s Corporate Plan places helping local business grow as a key priority and the upcoming Economic Development Strategy for 2018 will set out the future direction and objectives of the New Forest economy.
Matt Callaghan, Economic Development Manager, New Forest District Council said:
“New Forest District Council is delighted to be working with Business South as its newest Champion. The authority believes that working collaboratively is vitally important to ensure future growth and develop opportunities for existing businesses within the district. As such the council looks forward to engaging with Business South and its wide range of programmes for the mutual benefit of both organisations.”
John Mitchell, CEO, Business South, said:
“We are delighted to welcome New Forest District Council as our newest Business South Champion. The influence of Business South is made possible due to the high calibre of our Champions, including local government organisations who work to help grow our local economy. It is the collaboration between them that has, and will continue to achieve a real difference for our region.”
