Investors, developers, agents and consultants from across the UK attended to view exhibitors showcasing sites from across the region and to hear high quality presentations from both local and national speakers.

Delegates then had the opportunity to view the developments first hand, with site tours in the afternoon visiting; Whitehill & Bordon, Southampton City Centre, Portsmouth City Centre, Bournemouth Town Centre and the Solent Airport and Business Parks.

The Showcase is one of the ways that the Regenerate South forum is helping to change the dynamics of development in the region. Established by Business South, Regenerate South is an initiative combining expertise from the private and public sectors to deliver market ready sites in the region.  The group also promotes those sites at the national and international level to drive inward investment.

Member of Regenerate South and Blake Morgan Partner, Oliver Sowton, joined the guest speaker line up.  Speaking at the conference, Oliver commented: “As a firm with a strong and long-standing regional presence in the Solent region, we want to actively support initiatives that promote investment and regeneration in the area.  As an advisor for large commercial developments, I’m delighted to be compering the event which is such an excellent opportunity for investors to find out about the exciting new infrastructure projects in the South.”

The event was well also received by those that attended: “An excellent event, that was well organised and provided great networking opportunities”commented Ben Christian, Senior Planner at Vail Williams LLP.

Mike Taylor, Managing Director Chilmark Consulting Ltd added: “An excellent day's worth of networking, business opportunities and discussions focused on the huge wealth of regeneration opportunities available. Great to meet new contacts as well as existing friends and colleagues.”

Andrew Hodgkinson, Associate Director, Lambert Smith Hampton said: “The ethos of Business South to provide a platform for business in our region to collaborate for the greater good is easily undervalued. But if events such as Regenerate South did not take place, there is no doubt fewer opportunities would present themselves and less good stuff would get done. Business is and must continue to get involved; to share ideas and drive our regional economy forward and Business South is a perfect facilitator for this.”

Stuart Irvine, Senior Director, Turley commented: “An excellent showcase for development in the South, delivered in an innovative and engaging way with strong speakers who are passionate about the built and rural environment.”
